Soothing the Soul
“rocky top”
My son PLJ was fighting sleep, I knew he was tired, so I went up stairs, I let my boyfriend go down stairs grab food and feed himself while I turned around and tucked my munchkin into to bed after he had the process started. He was fighting it hard because he wanted to be up with everyone. He’s 2 going on 3 but is autistic and semi-verbal so I sang a few classic lullaby’s sadly I wasn’t any good with classics (I tried twinkle twinkle little star, but couldn’t remember the lyrics and I know I tried another one but gave up because) I remembered clear outta the blue “rocky top” because my mother used to sing it to me so I just started singing away laying next to him, curled up with him and boom by the last cord he was snoring away. That song relaxes him so well he passed out and stayed asleep all night.
For those who are wondering what “Rocky Top” is I’ve attached the lyrics -
I don’t own the music or lyrics:
Down in the Tennessee hills
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top
Ain't no telephone bills
Once I had a girl on Rocky Top
Half bear, other half cat
Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop
I still dream about that
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Lookin' for a moonshine still
Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top
Reckon they never will
Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top
Dirt's too rocky by far
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top
Get their corn from a jar
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Trapped like a duck in a pen
All I know is it's a pity life
Can't be simple again
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Rocky Top
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
Rocky Top, Tennessee
