1.17.2022 The Day I Almost Died

1.17.2022 The Day I Almost Died: I don’t normally complain about other tow companies but today I will!

Today was like any other day in New England with roads unsafe due to winter weather conditions. But I risked it because I had a 10am doctors appointment in three towns over from where I lived. A normal route that would have taken 45 minutes took me an hour and half. But I made it and got the blood work done and out of the way even if the tech blew my first line and caused me to bruise not once but three times. Then was the adventure back to my area in the weather unforgiving. I was on my route back and almost crashed a few times like on the way. Never going over 20 miles per hour as visibility was impossible at times and roads where not plowed. But I made it to Cumberland Farms in Livermore Falls, where I decided to grab something to eat and drink because I was feeling sick after getting my blood work and driving for over an hour on my way back. Took me one hour and fourth-five minutes to get to my sisters house. She was shoveling me out a spot so I pulled in but wanted to switch directions because I was going to get stuck, I checked both ways no traffic was seen or coming until my car was backing up. That’s when my life flashed before my eyes, as a tow truck a heavy duty rescue truck was flying down Intervale Road in Jay Maine. This all happened before noon and not one plow truck for town road has been seen. No plows have been dropped and only thing that has been done is drop of product. So with the belief nothing was coming after checking up the road and down the road I backed out and spun around, but as soon as I was heading backwards to back into the parking area my sister Rachel was screaming move, move, move and I looked to my right and saw it coming flying down the road where my only options where brace for impact or speed in reverse to avoid being hit. Sadly either option left me with almost getting hit. The truck missed me but left me stuck along side the road in 4-6 inches of heavy wet snow. They after causing that didn’t even stop to see if I was ok. Just because I was in what appeared to be a drive way doesn’t mean the snow was deeper where my car landed after skidding sideways. My goal was not to get hit, hit the truck or tree as well as my sister who was shoveling. Thankfully it was just snow and being stuck for a few. Worst part was the driver of the tow truck didn’t even stop to see if I was ok or if anyone was ok he kept driving. My quick thinking was asking everyone if they saw who owned the heavy duty rescue truck. No one got a name but they had colors. My next step was to call my ex-husband who’s a Tow Op, I knew he would have some idea of who it was and he was spot on when he said that sounds like Dutch Gap so I googled them and asked questions.

The call went like this:

Me: Hi, do you happen to have a Heavy Duty Rescue truck?

Dispatcher: yes we do he’s currently out what do you need?

Me: Where they out driving Intervale Road in Jay, Maine moments ago? - always silence

Dispatcher: yes they where…

Me: Good, great I’d like to put in a formal complaint about your driver, for almost hitting me and my vehicle leaving me in a ditch and driving off. With that if he’d had hit me he would have killed myself and my sister.

Dispatcher: uh. Oh I am so sorry I know what driver that is and I will let our supervisor know and I will be speaking with him as well. We will speak him I’m truly sorry.

Me: ok, still unsatisfied because I’m so shaken and thrown off knowing I was seconds a way from my death.

I hang up the phone and then tell people on Facebook and another tow wife friend was like woah what give me their name, number and what happened I’m about to raise some hell. Which she did, this companies driver isn’t making tow ops look good let alone that company. At this point it’s cost me a day of work. My nerves are so shot I’ve lived in the bathroom since getting back to my sisters house she told me to stay for a little bit because we knew my shakiness wasn’t gonna go away that quickly. I still am shaky and it’s been THREE HOURS after that incident.

Dutch Gap Auto is the Culprit who almost killed me

You can see his skid marks to my tire marks- let me tell you I became real good friends with God Today!

So as I’ve stated before if you live in Maine in my area STAY HOME NOTHING IS WORTH A LOVED ONE GETTING THAT CALL SAYING YOUR NOT COMING HOME! My ass isn’t even going into work I called out because I get to dig my car out of ditch in my sisters yard. Yay me … not! I’m safe so that’s what matters.
