GROUNDHOGS DAY

Yup it's today!

Where I am now it's approximately 09:53 and well we already know the verdict of if we have six more weeks of winter or an early spring. But let's get real... who actually believes that this whole ole tale is true. I'm in my 30s and I've only ever known this as a fun holiday of silliness. Let's dig a little into the history of groundhog's day which started back in 1886 which makes me feel horribly young of course this was the first groundhog's day that appeared in a local newspaper. Of course, this didn't start in my neck of the woods oh know this started down in PA (Pennsylvania) back before well most of us where even thought of. Little known fact did you know that this started as a Christian holiday that was done on the second day of February were people would take their candles to their churches to get blessed. The Christians did that in belief that the blessings would bring them goodness and good times through the winter times. As time went on and it grew especially when it grew in Germany with the hedgehog that saw its shadow did the tale come six more weeks of winter. They stated if the hedgehog saw his shadow on the second day of the Candleman's day would there be six more weeks of winter. But sadly, in the United States it's very far and few that we have hedgehogs so thus we had the groundhog. Although there was meaning back in 1886 and moving forward to now it's just something fun to break up the winter months and downs.

So, wow with learning those neat facts what do you think of Groundhog's Day now. Should they bring back the idea of blessing candles to bring blessings to your home, family and life during the winter months. I think that would be interesting to see what happens in years to come with this holiday. Well, here we have it February 2nd of 2022 and we have six more weeks of winter, although I'm not excited about that.
